Getting to Know
David Lipsitz, MD, FACS
David Lipsitz, MD, FACS: Dr. Lipsitz was inspired to a career in urologic surgery by the untimely death of his father from aggressive prostate cancer at an early age. At that time, clinical trials were inaccessible for the average person. Dr. Lipsitz went on to complete his medical training at the University of Colorado and Surgical/Urology training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lipsitz has consulted with the industry to assist in pharmaceutical protocols as well as medical device development. He continues to be board certified by the American Board of Urology and a member of many prestigious medical and research organizations.
While managing a busy surgical and lecture schedule, Dr. Lipsitz went on to develop a successful clinical research organization as principle investigator for thousands of clinical studies. Dr. Lipsitz realized the limitations of current patient recruitment platforms. He also became concerned about the growing number of patients who could not afford the medications he prescribed. Dr. Lipsitz was determined to make a change.
The opportunity for change came when Dr. Lipsitz sustained an injury that precluded the long hours of surgery. Turning a negative into a positive, Dr. Lipsitz created CliniSpan Health, a company that functions in the nonprofit space. The goal of CliniSpan Health is to improve clinical trial enrollment while giving back to the community by acting as a fundraiser for nonprofit organizations.
